Bike Loaner Program
WHAT IS THE ARKANSAS NICA BIKE LOANER PROGRAM?
Objective
Through the generosity of donors and sponsors, Arkansas NICA has been able to build a small fleet of bikes to be used by student-athletes who otherwise wouldn’t be able to experience the benefits of mountain biking with a team.
What will the Bike Loaner program do?
Arkansas NICA has over 130 mountain bikes that we maintain and loan out to Athletes and Coaches in need of a suitable bike to participate in our programs. Coaches may apply for a student to receive a loaner bike, or for a team bike(s). Once approved, the coach or student-athlete will have use of the bike for an entire NICA season once practices begin. Loaner agreements must be signed by student-athlete, parent/guardian and coach.
How it works
Arkansas NICA recognizes that access to a safe mountain bike is a barrier to participation for some of our student-athletes. As part of our commitment to reaching a diverse student population across the state, we want Arkansas NICA coaches to be able to support any interested youth in your community. If an interested student needs a loaner bike, his/her coach will simply fill out a bike loaner application online. Our Bike Loaner Program committee will review applications and bikes will be provided based on a total number of applications and on need. Bike Loaner applications are due July 1, and then will be accepted on a rolling basis after that depending on loaner bike inventory. Athletes in receipt of a NICA League Loaner are required to attend a bicycle maintenance session at one of the events or held at a local bike shop or NWACC.
